Transporters damage windowpanes of commercial vehicles for not following call in Jammu

Jammu, June 12  (KNO) : Transporters across Jammu and Kashmir are observing Chakka Jam today against the government decision to install GPS device in the commercial vehicles and installation of Awantipora toll post at Jammu Srinagar highway.

The call was given by all Transport Union pertaining to their demands and issues. Meanwhile, the members of Transport Union on Wednesday damaged several windowpanes of commercial vehicles at Bikram Chowk for not following the Bandh call given by All Transporter Union pertaining to their demands and issues.

Reports reaching to KNO stated that some commercial vehicles were seen plying on roads in Jammu following which they came under attack of transport union members and were asked to follow the vehicle lockdown call given the association.

The union had earlier called for a vehicle lockdown against the government decision to install GPS devices in their vehicles and installation of another toll post at Awantipora on Jammu Srinagar national highway.

Meanwhile, the administration has pressed the SRTC fleet on all roads to facilitate the journey of people amid the Chakka Jam. Moreover, the people here faced immense hardships due to the Chakka Jam by transporters for a day, appealing the State Administration to look into the matter so that they could heave a sigh of relief(KNO)
